Department of Radiotherapy and Radio Oncology

A major role in the management and activities of all interdisciplinary areas

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Sana Klinikum Offenbach treats around 1,500 patients every year, as either out-patients or in-patients. Our interdisciplinary radiotherapy treatment is based on national and international standards and guidelines, using modern equipment and techniques. We treat all types of malignant cancers and certain benign tumors and non-cancerous inflammatory diseases.

The Department of Radiotherapy and Radio Oncology plays a major role in the management and activities of the Gynecological Center, Breast Center, Intestinal Center, Lung Center and the Center for Neurooncology. Doctors, medical physicists, medical technical assistants and nursing staff work closely with the other specialist departments of the hospital to ensure that patients are offered the highest standard of treatment in the following major interdisciplinary areas:

  • Prostate cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Rectal cancer
  • Anal cancer
  • Tumors of the head and neck
  • Lung tumors
  • Brain tumors
  • Gynecological tumors
  • Soft-tissue sarcomas
  • Metastases
  • Palliativ Treatment

Even with all this modern technology for diagnostic work-up and treatment the department still focus firmly on the patients and their individual situations. Everything is based on a partnership between the doctor and the patient, and even after treatment has been completed patients can contact the department for advice at any time.

The department holds regular tumor conferences where discussing and coordinating individual oncological treatment concepts; depending on the disease, the patient may receive treatment as an out-patient or in-patient, or in partial hospitalization. The department’s major areas of activity includes

  • Conformal radiotherapy, non-conformal radiotherapy
  • High-precision radiotherapy using interstitial brachytherapy
  • Combined radiochemotherapy

The clinic is well known for radiotherapy of benign diseases as arthrosis, hell spur etc..
